Dinard is a coastal town in the Brittany region, renowned for its beautiful beaches, historic buildings and picturesque ambiance. It is also in the heart of this city that Maison Royal Mer has settled and draws its inspiration from there to create atypical pieces. But what to do in Dinard? We interviewed Françoise Moy, head of Sales Administration, to find out her suggestions for discovering the City.
Hello Françoise! You are a bit like our Dinardaise "Ambassador", could you introduce yourself for those who don't know you yet?
I cannot define myself better than as being Breton and always in love with my region. What I love above all: the sea and sweaters... preferably sailor ones! It seems that there is no real coincidence... I have done quite a few things in my life, in Brittany of course, but also in England, in Paris and on Reunion Island. First an English teacher, then in the hotel industry, then in events, it was in 2016 when ROYAL MER took over that I joined the team with great pleasure.
Can you describe your work at Royal Mer?
I am ADV Manager (Sales Administration). I am, in a way, “the voice of ROYAL MER” for our multi-brand reseller clients. Responsible for recording orders until delivery and in permanent contact with salespeople.
What does it mean to live/work near the sea?
Every day I go to “see the sea”, and I realize how lucky I am to work here. Summer, like winter. Every day I am amazed. This magnificent coast, this superb sea, this light, these often INCREDIBLE colors. It's different every time, and so beautiful... Without a doubt, it gives me a good dose of energy!
But then, what to do in Dinard?
Seaside activities
The sea is the reason we come to Dinard! The city offers a wealth of water activities including swimming, sailing, coasting, sea kayaking, sea fishing and much more. You can also take a boat ride to view the Emerald Coast cliffs from the ocean. If you prefer to just relax on the beach, Dinard has several options: Plage de l'Ecluse is the most popular, but there is also Plage du Prieuré and Plage de Saint-Énogat . A great idea for an easy-to-access walk: the moonlight walk , but on the day of the race!
Shopping and gastronomy
Dinard offers a multitude of shops, restaurants and bars. Its market is a “must-go” full of good products and gift ideas! You can find everything there... For comic book lovers, the "Petibonvm" comic book store is a must, with an impressive selection of comic books.
To eat, I recommend "La Cabane à Manger" on the Quai de la Perle pontoon, which offers a magical atmosphere in summer, or the Bar Restaurant "Le Skipper" , simple but good: Speed, friendliness and good humor. The gourmet restaurant “Why Pas” is also an excellent option. To quench your thirst after a nice walk, I recommend the magnificent bar of the Hôtel Royal Emeraude or the terrace of the Hôtel de la Vallée . In the sun, sheltered from the wind, almost with your feet in the water… Go for it! 😉
Discover the history of Dinard
Dinard has a rich architectural heritage, with many historic buildings to visit. St. Bartholomew's Anglican Church, built in 1884, is an example of Belle Époque architecture. The Casino Barrière in Dinard, built in 1902, is also a must. You can also visit the postcard must-see, La Villa des Roches Brunes which will host the photo exhibition of the Pinault collection from 10/06 to 01/10.
What is the Royal Mer piece that you always take with you?
My CHARLY hat! I love it. And that’s good because in Brittany, you may need it in both summer and winter. Available in multiple colors, it is TOP TOP TOP.
And your favorite piece from Royal Mer?
Difficult to say, each season I have my favorite! There, I admit that I am already waiting for the one from the next Winter 23/24 collection…
