At Royal Mer, we believe that the taste for a job well done permeates all professions.
It is this conviction that made us want to create Les Artisans du Bon Goût , a series of encounters with those who embody the excellence of French craftsmanship, respect for materials and the culture of taking one's time.
For this first episode, we head to Cap Ferret to meet Fumette , an artisanal smokehouse founded by Bénédicte and Julien.
At Fumette, the smoking process is never rushed.
The fish is handled with precision, patience and humility, in an approach where every gesture counts.
The choice of wood, the smoking time, the attention paid to the raw materials: everything is designed to allow the flavor to express itself naturally, without artifice. A rare approach that prioritizes quality over quantity and puts time back at the heart of the process.
Sustainability is at the heart of the Fumette project.
Respect for the fish, the seasons, and fishing methods guides every decision. Here, the raw material is never forced: it is nurtured.
This vision echoes our own commitment at Royal Mer: to design robust pieces, made to last, and to work towards the progressive elimination of synthetic materials from our collections from 2026. Two worlds, one same requirement.
Whether it's smoking or meshing, the right technique is key.
The one who asks us to slow down, to observe, to accept that time will do its work.
Through this encounter with Fumette, we wanted to highlight another way of producing and consuming: more conscious, more respectful, more sustainable.
